Hilos virreinales

Hilos virreinales approached textiles not as secondary accessories within portraiture, but as material evidence of status, devotion, trade, craftsmanship, and cultural exchange. Paintings, garments, furniture, devotional objects, and historic textiles were brought together in analytical environments and reconstructed interiors.

Challenge

Provide social context for textiles and portraits while maintaining clear distinctions among the collection, interpretive reconstruction and historic setting.

Response

The exhibition alternated analytical galleries with reconstructed interiors, using custom mounts to preserve the volume and form of fragile garments.
